TTTTRUE Fact #1

:Vanilla:

One of the primary sources for vanilla flavourings comes from vanilla pods ( Incorrectly called beans).
These pods are harvested from the fruit of the vanilla orchid ( Vanilla Planifolia ).
These Orchids are native to the mid-southern part of Mexico but are also harvested in Madagascar and come in many varieties such as Flat-leaved Vanilla, Tahitian Vanilla and West Indian Vanilla.

In the 16th century the Aztecs used vanilla to accent the flavour of their chocolate drinks. Emperor Moctezuma II introduced vanilla to the Spanish explorer Cortés, who brought it back to Europe and introduced it to the european aristocracy where it grew in popularity.
In 1602, a chemist for Queen Elizabeth I, suggested that vanilla could be used alone as a flavouring.

Like All members of the genus Vanilla, Vanilla Planifolia is a vine and it's large fleshy roots support itself as it grows. The flowers of the Vanilla Orchid are a greenish yellow and last only one day and must be pollinated manually during the morning in order for it to bear fruit. If pollination does not occur, the flower perishes and falls off of the next day.

Curiouser and Curiouser!

Ok, Interactive books for the I-pad?
Apple is really pulling rabbits out of hats these days to get consumers to join Team Apple.

This new Alice In Wonderland interactive App for the Apple I-Pad, developed by Atomic Antelope, has readers shaking, flipping and rotating the I-pad to watch some very curious actions.
The app is being sold for $9/ £5.49 on Apple's Great Britain Site or FREE as a "Lite" version.

It's a marvelous idea and I can't wait to see what other designs and collaborations come next.
The links below are to Apple's Great Britain site. This App is not yet available on the US site.

OVO - Cirque Du Soliel @ Randall's Island

Last night I went to watch OVO, the new show by Cirque Du Soleil.
Let me just say, if you haven't seen a live performance by Cirque Du Soleil, now is the time to get on the good foot and purchase tickets because it's worth every cent. The costumes, the music, the abience and most importantly the performers, all absolutely stunning. This show is a Must See.

OVO will be performing in NYC from April 9th to June 6th 2010.
