Pull & Zoom

I go crazy over ingeniously designed maps that are not only appealing but easy to follow.
Check out the Map2. This unfold and zoom map is a tiny marvel. At the moment it's only available for London, but look out for future cities and possibilities.

NYC Condom Design Contest

To bring HIV/Aids awareness to the forefront, the City of New York is running a city wide contest for a new design for it's NYC Condom label.

According to the NYC Department of Health, " New York City remains the epicenter of the HIV/AIDS epidemic in the U.S."
New York City has more AIDS cases than Los Angeles, Washington DC, Miami, and Sna Francisco combined and over 100,000 New Yorkers have contracted HIV. Many of whom are unaware of it.

The City of New York has handed out free condoms since 1971 they are still freely available at many bars, clubs and community institutuions around the city.

Any New York City Resident, 17 or older, can submit one entry. The artwork must be original, must be raunchy, and can't include copyrighted or trademarked images ( no Empire State Buildings motifs). With those exceptions, anything goes. But think fast - entries are due midnight on January 22, 2010.

Evian - A little more Couture

Evian has teamed up with British Designer, Paul Smith to create a fun, fresh look for their classic bottle design. This bold move for Evian was made in hopes of attracting a younger, hipper crowd to imported water.
Paul Simth's Signature multicolored stripes do make guzzling water look more attractive, but will consumers pay the price for Couture Artesian Water at $13.95 a bottle? Hmmmm.

Whats is... a Hanbok?

What is a Hanbok you say!
Hanbok's are traditional Korean dress. When translated, Hanbok literally means "Korean Clothing".
Vibrant in color, simple and elegant in line and form. The Hanbok can be traced back as far as the Three Kingdoms Period ( 57 B.C - 668 A.D. )
The upper garment of the Hanbok is call a Jeogori and the bottom, skirt like part, is called a Chima. In male dress, the Jeogori is longer and is paired with a pair of baggy trousers called
Baji. The silk shoes, which usually have flower pattern embroidery are called Kkotsin.
Commoners in Korean society wore white, except during festivals and special celebrations. Clothing for the upper class were brightly colored and indicated the wearers status in korean society.
Hanbok worn today are patterned after those worn during the Confucian oriented, Josen Dynasty. (1392-1910)
