A Wicked Good Time

The universe finally took pity on me and sent me the chance to see Wicked last night. One of my co-workers had an extra ticket and invited me to see one of the most popular shows on Broadway, Wicked. The show is currently staged at the Gershwin Theatre, on 51st off Broadway and has the highest seating capacity of all the theatres in the theatre district. The Gershwin can hold a whoppin 1,933 guests and is simply one of the best designed theatres. The gentle slope of the seats supplies everyone with a clear sweeping view of the stage.
The story Wicked presents is loosely based on the Novel Wicked: The Life and Times of The Wicked Witch of the West by George Maguire. It is in my opinion, one of the greatest broadway adaptations I have seen. The sets are amazing, the costumes are spectacular, the casting perfect and the scenes flow together more wonderfully than the Wizard of Oz could have ever accomplished. I couldn't help singing along in my head.
Clearly, it has not had sold out shows for nothing and is being added as my all time favorite broadway show. Tickets are not cheap but worth every penny. Its a magical experience that will leave you feeling...well... Wicked.
