Chanel Mobile Art Has Landed In The Park!

The Chanel Mobile Contemporary Art container designed by architect Zaha Hadid was quietly installed in Central Park's Rumsey Playfield October 20th and opened it's spaceship like doors to the public on October 22nd, 2008.
The 7,500 square foot pod houses works from 20 contemporary artists. Visitors receive a eraser sized mp3 player with matching headset and are navigated throughout the maze-like structure by the voice of Jeanne Moreau. Moreau guides you along the surreal journey that uses video installations, sculptures, paintings, photographs and larger than life probs to stimulate your mind and activate your imagination. The exhibit is based around Chanel's quilted handbags and the secrets kept within them and is curated by Fabrice Bousteau, editor in chief of Beaux Arts Magazine.

Zaha Hadid's container is beautiful, set against Central Park's fall foliage. The smooth, sensual curves captures your eyes and lures your vision around it's voluminous structure.
As you enter, the mobile art staff  acknowledges your presence right away and like a well oiled machine, quickly make you comfortable so you can start your journey.
The experience was not only mysterious and facinating, it was over in less than 30 minutes. I thoroughly enjoyed being led by the erie voice into rooms of unknow origin with my friends, Devan, Sharri and Jason, simultaneously being  led on journeys of their own. Some exhibits stood out way more than others while some just made you seceretly question.  It's a definite must see for the 4 senses..
( No touching allowed in her house/pod! ) Lol!
